December 25, 2010

A few weeks before Christmas, in lieu of B talking about Santa, I helped him write a letter. I tried to write everything he said verbatim. The letter included lines like "Santa, I love you. Will you please bring me a bow and arrow... I'll share with my brother, I sure will." among other hilarious and tender sentences. He had finally narrowed down what he wanted and it was a bow and arrow. Because Travis and I have been shot in the face with arrows that have suction cups on the end, we decided to scour the valley for a NERF bow and arrow.

You remember how I feel about NERF?
Yeah.

Nonetheless, I knew the boy had his heart set on a bow and arrow and so we obliged. When he opened it up Christmas morning, I had anticipated an epileptic-seizure-type excitement. Not really the case. He was excited, but more interested in the truck that Drama got. (Of course.) When he got around to trying it out, we discovered the bow shoots the arrow quite far and fast, and especially at point blank range to the face.
Once again, NERF and I have a love/hate relationship.

Earlier in December Travis and I decided that instead of buying presents for one another, we would do a sub-for-santa for someone in need- which we did. I knew in the back of my mind that Travis would probably get me something anyway because he can't resist and he spoils his wife like crazy. I threatened him, telling him not to, but I knew full well I would be getting a surprise. When I walked out to a seafoam-green beach cruiser, I was shocked. It was like my 5th grade dream come true and I think I might have squealed like a 5th grader as well. What a hot-babe cutie pie he is right? I know it.
My sweet mom made a quilt for me this year. And not just any quilt, the cutest snuggliest most amazing quilt ever. I am so excited about it and I love it even more because it was hand-made by her. Here's a little snippet of it and her holding baby Charlie.
I thought I'd throw this next picture in because I think it's really funny. My brothers both got Macbooks for Christmas and this is their "surprise face"

I always feel like a little kid at Christmas. I feel ajuvenile-ish anticipation when it approaches, and get butterflies in my belly for parties, feasts, and presents. I look forward to everything and everyone. Family fights, disaster food, unexpected gifts, and misbehaving children- bring it on, I love every minute of it.
